Why Choose a Soy Wax Candle?

Why not paraffin wax?

Soy wax is made from soybeans which are a renewable and natural source, whilst paraffin wax  is derived from petroleum which is not renewable, emits harmful toxins, and is reported to be carcinogenic.

Soy wax is non-toxic. Whilst all candles produce an element of soot, soy wax produces much less and burns completely. Paraffin wax emits black smoke and leaves residue.

Soy wax burns at a cooler temperature than paraffin wax and because of this it also lasts 25-50% longer than its paraffin wax counterpart.  The low-burn temperature makes it favourite among parents.

Soy wax makes an eco- friendly and budget-friendly candle. Though the purchase of a soy wax candle may be a greater initial outlay, this is offset by the longevity of its burn time making them a more economical choice in reality.

Fragrance oils and essential oils blend better with soy wax than other waxes. Because of the slow and cool burn time of soy wax, sudden bursts of strong fragrance are avoided, and a more gradual fragrance is emitted creating a more enjoyable ambiance.

Why not beeswax?

Beeswax is not a vegan product and given the dwindling number of honeybees it can be a controversial choice and relatively expensive.

Beeswax spillages can be difficult to clean as it is sticky and soft.

Another factor to consider is that the distinct honey smell can interfere with the fragrance of your candle.

Why not palm wax?

The palm oil industry has had a devastating environmental impact and is the cause of massive deforestation. Enough said!
